When he’s not out and about at Toys ‘R’ Us, the San Antonio Spurs star has been taking time out to give back.
He has donated a total of $20,000 to Toys ‘r Us, donating $20 to Toys for Tots and $20 on Friday night to the Toys for Peace community-based charity.
He also donated $50,000 from his $200,000 salary during his rookie season to Toys’R Us, which serves about 1 million children annually.
Toys for Peace provides toys and supplies for kids who are at-risk, including those living in low-income neighborhoods.
“I’m so grateful to Toys R Us and the San Diego Chargers for the opportunity to help,” Tim Duncan told ESPN.
“It’s a great organization that cares about children, the environment and people’s safety.
I know they are doing a good job.
They are a really cool organization.”
The Spurs superstar is donating $50K to Toys For Peace, which has a total $20 million endowment, and $25K to the San Jose Sharks.
Duncan also made a $100,000 donation to the organization this year, and this year he has also donated an additional $25,000.
Duncan has also been a longtime supporter of the Toys For Life foundation, which provides toys to kids in need.
“I’ve made a lot of donations in my career and I know a lot about the cause,” Duncan said.
“I’m really proud to be able to support Toys for Life and Toys for Toys for Kids.”
A big thank you to @Toys4Kids for their support of @toyrsus.
