The Big Bang Theory and Sherlock have long been the top two shows in the world, but this summer’s Doctor Who and Doctor Who TV series will see a new breed of companion, with the creation of a brand new toy for the new companion, The Ape.
The toy, which is a mash-up of two of Doctor Who’s most popular monsters, will be the subject of a special BBC Radio 4 documentary, Doctor Who: Adventures in the Great Apes, which will air on Monday 18 October at 9pm on BBC Radio 5 live.
“I am so excited about the creation and I am so proud of the toys that I have made,” said Doctor David Tennant, who is also set to reprise his role as Captain Jack Harkness, the new Doctor Who companion, in the documentary.
Doctor McStuffs toys will include two toy companions, a toy shark and a toy crocodile, as well as a special bionic dog.
He told Radio 4: “We are really excited to be able to work with the Doctor Who team.
The team have been incredible.
We’ve been working with them for over five years and I can’t wait to tell the story of the new adventures of these fantastic creatures.”
The first trailer for the doc was released earlier this year, and the BBC has released a new video to accompany the documentary which is expected to be released on Monday.
“My job is to keep making great, imaginative, intelligent, beautiful toys that are both cool and silly and I love working with people who do,” said Mr Tennant.
